So Busy

Last week, I was able to enroll in my Microbiology summer class at a community college. So in addition to work, I had to go to school from Monday to Thursday and find time to study and relax in between that chaos. Needless to say, I've been ridiculously busy! I still feel lucky because I was able to take that class at a CC at a much cheaper cost compared to taking it at my college. It's a really interesting subject too, so I don't mind having extra work this summer.

One evening, I was closing up the patio section at work when a huge group of my friends (along with my boyfriend!!) came to the restaurant for dinner. It was such a nice surprise since I was having a boring day, so they definitely lifted my spirits. After work, I hung out with them at this boba tea/hookah bar and it was really fun even though I didn't smoke. I'm not that into hookah.

Anyway, I have to get back to studying for my Microbio quiz tomorrow... Deuces.

Apparently, coffee keeps you up at night

I'm gonna F you up :)
It wasn't until today that I got slapped across the face with the reality that coffee is some potent shit. The second I sipped my creamy, sweet boba coffee that I bought after work I had absolutely no clue that I would be signing up for this. It kept me awake against my will and would NOT let my brain shut the hell up until approximately 7:00 AM this morning when my frolicking thoughts and persistent drowsiness came to a compromise and finally let me sleep for a glorious four hours. I guess it's all worth it when I wake up to find a semi-ambitious to do list and other written notes strewn across my table as a reminder of my sleepless night:

"Friday To Do List"
-bake banana muffins
-buy a spritz bottle and make a green tea/lemon juice face spray
-grow hair long and learn how to do unique braids
-save up for a Kipling backpack or purse
-watch 22 Jump Street
-save up for a nice laptop
-do laundry
-sweep the floors
-put away the crap on the sofa

I really like how my priorities are at the very end of this to do list -.-

"Things I Hate/I'm Afraid Of"
-ketchup
-when the toilet paper rolls out the wrong way
-heavy breathing in small public spaces
-poorly groomed eyebrows
-split ends
-noisy neighbors
-noisy people in general
-the Westboro Baptist Church in Kansas
-excessively religious conservatives who use the Bible to justify their hate
-when people say "Speak English, we're in America"
-boring lectures
-craving sweets but wanting to slim down at the same time
-when you want to sleep but you can't

^That last one sums up this blog post.

I'm Hooked

This will be a short post, but I just wanna say that I am obsessed with Orange is the New Black!!! I should have watched it after hearing all the rave reviews but I'm such a snob when it comes to new TV shows. I have yet to figure out why everyone loves Game of Thrones, but first I need to get up to speed with the current OITNB season... not that it will take very long :)

Book Haul!

I was only supposed to buy a review book for my TEAS exam (which I have to take before I can apply to nursing school) but somehow I ended up buying 3 MORE BOOKS than I needed. I was able to get good prices anyway because I bought them online. Buying them at a bookstore is such a waste of money... I'm only trying to justify how much I unexpectedly spent today :/ But it was definitely not a waste!

I got these amazing young adult novels for decent prices on Amazon:

But if I really want to get into nursing school, the book I should be focusing on is this one...

Here's to a productive summer vacation :3

Hangouts with old friends

I guess this week is gonna be a hangout marathon! I spent time with a friend yesterday, today, and I'm going on two more hangouts this week alone!
YESTERDAAAAAYYY I hung out for a short time with my bff from middle school and high school. We had Pho and cream puffs and just talked and talked as if nothing has changed in the past two years. It was really nice seeing her! I'll be sad when she moves out of state for college this fall :(
AND TODAAAAAAYY~ I hung out with my other friend from high school and we met up at Little Tokyo! We ate at Curry House and got boba and had our own little concert at the karaoke studio:

There was this oddly named Japanese snack called "D'asses" and I just had to get a picture with it.

Supermarket selfies are the best. What a fun couple of days!!! Hopefully there will be more to come :)

Got Paid!! ...and spent it right away

I got my first paycheck yesterday at work!! It may not be a big deal to those who've been working for a while now, but it was exciting for me because this is my first job. LOL this is the first job I've had in all my 19 years of existence. Shameful, I know. But it's better late than never! Work experience is always good. It definitely builds character and teaches you the value of a dollar, as they say. I'm still considering whether I should keep working at the restaurant even when school starts again... That would mean having to commute 2+ hours back home just to work for 2 days then commute all the way back to school where I dorm. Doesn't sound too horrible since I'll be earning money anyway. It all depends on my schedule next semester. Ah well, I'll leave it to God.

Not that my paycheck is much to rave about. In fact, even before I got my paycheck I already spent the majority of it. I bought new glasses this week because my old ones were scratched up pretty bad and I need to do an eye exam so it was worth it. They have a wider lens and I really like the shape:

Work today went pretty well. It wasn't as busy as I thought it would be at the restaurant, so that makes me happy. The best part is that I get to take home an employee meal of my choice. I'm so lucky that the food here is amazing. The only problem is that it's pretty fattening. What would you expect from Japanese comfort foods? I think from now on I'll try ordering salads for my take-home meal instead of the heavy entrees. OMG and I have to stop craving sweets... It's really costing me (health and money-wise). I mean, what a waste of time spent at the gym if I'm just gonna pig out on a high-carb dinner and a sugary dessert?! I need to work on that... My weight right now is higher than I want it to be, so i really have to be careful with what I eat and I need to make sure I exercise daily.

Anyways, enough with that crap. Just wanted to write a bit for today. Til next time!
